The Philadelphia Phillies: Greatest Dogpile Ever?

Last night the Phillies won their first World Series Championship since 1980, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in five games, only the precursor to one of the greatest moments in sports: the dogpile. Ruiz jumps on Lidge, Utley on Ruiz, Howard on Utley, the outfield on Howard, Charlie Manuel trips and lands on his extraordinarily round belly, and so on. The dogpile: sports history gold, captured as the single perfect image of every postseason. So let's take a journey into the past, reliving the great dogpiles of the past decade, as we ask ourselves... the 2008 Philadelphia Phillies: greatest dogpile ever?

2007 Boston Red Sox, 2006 St. Louis Cardinals, 2005 Chicago White Sox:

2004 Boston Red Sox, 2003 Florida Marlins, 2002 Anaheim Angels:

... and of course the gold standard for dogpiles:
1995 Braves

  1. 1995 Braves, the choice I can believe in.

Having said that, last night's dog pile (Phillies '08) was the best in this century. Full stop.
